Belgian Shepherd Dog Club Group Championship Show  -  2008

The Belgian Shepherd Dog Club of Ireland held their Group 1 and 2 Championship Show at Cloghran last weekend and as always they had a good panel of International and National Specialists to give their opinion on the breeds. Paul Lawless and his team put on a great show and the inclusion of other events at the Show Centre on the day makes for a venue with plenty of atmosphere. The Groups 1 and 2 were judged by mother and daughter team Bernie Ladd and Yvonne Cannon and both were well filled with the winning Best of Breeds.

Bernie judged the Group 1 line up and from a strong contingent of BOB’S she chose a new one for top honours for the Craigycor Pembroke Corgi Team of Alan and Sarah Matthews by selecting Ryslip Molly Malone at Craigycor. Bred in the UK by the famous Liz Cartledge, Misty was sent through from the breed by Petro Muntean from Romaniaand took this fine win at just 9 months old. The Craigycor Team also took the Green Star Dog award with CH Craigycor Mr Bo Jangles who was on his last appearance for the time being in Ireland as he was jetting off to the USA to Maria Brady where he will be exhibited.

Group Runner Up was David McKenna’s Bouvier Des Flandres CH Nikolaev Colorado at Davdeir who has three Group wins to his name and was a Pup of the Year Qualifier in 2006.

Third in Group 1 was Colm and Rose Hastings Killarney 2008 Best in Show winner, the Old English Sheepdog CH/INT CH Raggletaggle Johnny Racer.

Fourth in Group 1 was Jenny Hickey’s Border Collie CH/INT CH Ha’penny Kingfisher.

Group 1 Best Puppy Winner was the German Shepherd.
