Ulster Dachshund Club Open (Sub-Group) Show  -  2005

I would like to thank the Officers and Committee of the Ulster Dachshund Club for giving me this appointment and the superb hospitality they showed to my wife and myself on the day. The show was relaxed and happy and the entry was very good with some excellent dogs among them and I was especially pleased to see some very promising youngsters.

Veteran (7, 3a)

1 Danter’s Ir. Ch. Marchmont Fan ‘C’ Free . 9yrs old B/T mini smooth bitch which caught my eye the minute she walked in the ring. Lovely feminine expression, superb construction with excellent length of rib and depth of keel. Moved beautifully holding her topline well. Very well handled and presented definitely did not look her age.

2 Strachan’s Ch. Calderpark Blue Knight. 12½ years old Shaded Red Standard Long dog, beautifully presented in excellent coat and a nice outline. Moved well but not quite as confident as 1.

Mini S/H Puppy (2)

1 & B. P. i. S. Bate’s Batendach Copyright. 10 months old B/T bitch with a lovely expression, good depth of keel and length of rib, moved well round the ring, beautifully presented.

2 Moore’s Lady Estelle. 6 months old on the day, B/T bitch, very nicely constructed little girl with a lovely puppy expression. Was quite nervous and not happy moving in the ring, this I am sure is down to lack of confidence and immaturity more than anything else and I feel that she is one to watch for in the future..

Limit (3)

1 Davis’s Barleyfield Eye Catcher. 14 months old B/T dog oozing confidence as he came into the ring. Nice rib and keel. Moved very well with good drive and angulation.

2 Danter’s Danterdax Miss Goo Lightly. 14 months old B/T bitch with a nice cheeky, feminine expression. Very well constructed but slightly on the short side. Moved well but preferred 1.

Open Dog (1)

1 Castle’s Ir. Ch. High Flier. 2½ years old, Shaded Red with a very proud expression, very well constructed with good rear angulation, moved easily round the ring.

Open Bitch (5, 3a)

1 & B.o.B. Weir’s Ambreglo Charmed with Grace. 22 months old, B/T and gorgeous, lovely depth of keel and length of rib, nice eye and very cheeky expression, moved round the ring as if she were on air. Fully deserved her B.o.B.

2 Bate’s Radclyffe Nucifragia to Batendach. 2 years old Shaded Red, just back from maternity duties and did not look entirely happy with the proceedings. Well constructed, moved well and held her topline.

Mini L/H Puppy (3, 3a)

1 Strachan’s Bronia Rob Roy of Calderpark. 26 months old B/T dog very well put together and with tremendous ring presence. Lovely head, eye and expression, moved very well holding his topline on the move. Very well presented and handled.

2 Lyle’s Jabo Nightshade. 14 months old B/T bitch. Nice depth of keel and length of rib, moved confidently round the ring.

Open Dog (3, 2a)

1, B.o.B. & B. i. S. Hamilton’s Ardlochan Sableson. 5 years old Shaded Red dog who, despite being on his own in the ring cried out to be looked at. Beautifully constructed with a lovely head and shoulders, good depth of keel and length of rib, moved effortlessly around the ring and thoroughly deserved his Best of Breed and subsequently Best in Show.

Open Bitch (3, 2a)

1 Hamilton’s Ardlochan Bronsgirl. 5 years old B/T bitch who, like her brother stood alone in the ring and I feel that she would have preferred a bit of competition. Very feminine expression, well constructed, could have moved better but I’m sure this is due to her being on her own.

Mini W/H Puppy (1)

1 Patton’s Wentwood Over To You Lesandnic. 8 months old Brindle dog, still very much a puppy, but good rib and keel, slightly nervous on the move but held his top line well. Limit (5, 2a) 1 Wright’s Crackerdax Sass Cee Lassie. 13 months old Brindle bitch, very confident with a lovely expression, good length of rib strong drive and moved well.

2 Patton’s Lesandnic Emblem. 19 months old Brindle bitch, slightly heavy in coat but well constructed and moved with confidence.

Open Dog (1)

1 & B. o. B. Allan & Dick’s Auchans Roger the Dojjer. 17 months old Brindle boy who was well presented and moved with great confidence. Good construction, nice rough coat and very much a show man.

Open Bitch (7, 6a)

1 Williamson’s Claggan Colleen. 4 years old with a very happy expression, good length of rib and moved well but could have done with others in the ring with her.

Smooth Haired Puppy (6, 2a)

1 Orr’s Mantanai Scops. 7 months old B/T bitch, good length of rib, moved with great confidence for his age, held his top line well.

2 Orr’s Roseate Tern. 7 months old Chocolate dog, litter sister to 1. Slightly short in rib but moved very well and with good rear drive.

Limit (4, 2a)

1 Orr’s Black Eagle. 7 months old B/T dog, the third in this litter and like his sister is very well constructed and very confident.

2 Orr’s Hodgson Hawk. 7 months old Chocolate dog, the fourth in this very nice litter, still very much a youngster and had a bit of a wobble going round the ring.

Open Dog (2, 1a)

1 Hall’s Batendach Hitch-Hiker. 3 years old B/T, very good construction and moved round the ring in a leisurely and confident manner.

Open Bitch (3, 1a)

1 & B. o. B. Cunningham’s Ch. Sontag See Fit. 4 years old B/T, superb in every way, lovely head and expression, good depth of keel and length of rib, moved with confidence and drive.

Long Haired Puppy (3, 1a)

1 McFaul’s Dachville Distant Dream. 7 months old Shaded Red dog, very much a puppy but beautifully constructed, lovely coat, alert and confident on the move held his top line throughout, definitely one to watch out for in the future.

2 McFaul’s Dachville I Got You Babe. 10 months old B/T bitch, good keel and rib, good shoulder movement just not quite as good as 1 on the move.

1 & B. o. B. Ch., Ir., Int. Ch. Darsoms Zwagerson. 5 years old Shaded Red dog, there is nothing to say about this dog which hasn’t already been said, he is beautifully constructed moved very well and was extremely well handled and presented.

Open Bitch (3, 1a)

1 Warkes Ir. Ch. Glasvey Bobby’s Girl. 2 years old Shaded Red bitch, lovely head and eye, nice feminine expression, good keel and rib length, moved well constantly holding her top line.

2. Warke’s Loggeta Lavender Blue. 18 months old B/T dog, nicely constructed youngster with a very nice coat, moved well but not with the confidence of 1.

Wire Haired Puppy (2)

1 Patton’s Audleys Roads To Lesandnic. 8 months old Brindle bitch, very feminine expression, nice construction and movement, held her top line well.

2 Allan & Dick’s Barmaud Katherine Hepburn. 10 months old Brindle bitch, not at all happy about being on show, was quite boisterous and gave her handler a hard time. Nice depth of keel and rib length and when she moved properly she looked good but definitely needs to mature out.

1 B. o. B. & R. B. i. S. Davison’s Lesandnic Landing Light. 19 months old Brindle dog who was definitely enjoying himself. Very nice rib and keel, good hard coat, moved around the ring in a calm and easy fashion, well presented and handled.

Open Dog (2, 1a)

1 Ennis & Doherty’s Beaver De Cloghaneely. 22 months old Brindle dog, nice long rib, good coat, slightly jerky movement around the ring.

Open Bitch (2, 1a)

1 Patton’s Lesandnic Sealia. 2½ years old Brindle bitch, lovely feminine esxpression, nice head and eye, well constructed, a very happy dog that moved confidently around the ring.
